As I have stated on numerous occasions, everyone is addicted to something. Could be drugs, alcohol, smoking, food, pornography, gambling, social media, fame, another person, and so on. Any of these addictions can lead to disastrous life consequences. Does it mean less if someone destroys their life due to a food addiction versus a drug addiction? Of course not. Addiction is addiction, and it comes in many shapes and sizes. Some get more publicity and attention than others. Most people are not in recovery because it takes a strong, not weak person to admit they have a problem and seek help. The weak individual denies the problem exists and continues to spiral downwards often taking friends and loved ones with them. People from all walks of life reach out to us regularly to share how long they have said NO to an addiction. Everyday more and more of them want to tell their story and come out from the shadows. These are ordinary everyday Americans, all helping to end the stigma of different addictions. On Facebook you may act like your life is together, but reality isn’t on Facebook. So take off that mask and let the light shine on the wonderful you. Show the world how strong you are because of your recovery. You said no to something you craved more than anything in the world. Wow! What a conqueror you have become. Stay strong and say no!
