We hear time and time again during our interviews with addicts that no one ever spoke with them about addiction when they were younger. Set quality time aside to have a two way conversation with your kids about addiction. Explain that people start drug & alcohol use for fun, but it turns negative quickly. Give them real life examples of lives destroyed and heart breaks. Be honest & sincere instead of judgmental. Communication is so important. Children soak up instruction and yearn for direction. Give it to them and do not assume they won’t need it. This world has changed, and open instruction regarding all vices is vital for our children’s lives.
