Addiction is no respector of people. In other words it doesn’t care who you are, where you came from, or how much money or fame you have. Rich or poor, black or white, educated or illiterate means nothing to addiction.  It doesn’t discriminate, it destroys.

Paul Manziel understands first hand the destructive power of addiction. His son is NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel. The former Heisman winner whose life is clearly spiraling out of control wouldn’t enter rehab last week. Paul Manziel in speaking to The Dallas Morning News said “I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday.” Johnny Manziel is 23 years old. I hope Johnny will seek professional help. I hope he lives a long and happy life in recovery. Talk to your kids about alcohol, drugs, prescription pills, and other negative influences. It’s never to late. It’s easier to teach a child than change an adult. Teach them about peer pressure. Teach them to stand strong and say no.
